Escaping Doha, Exploring Qatar

I have been here now 11 years, and when the Winter Months come, I love nothing more than getting out of the hustle and bustle of the City, and escaping to the cool places where there are no people and its completely chilled.
Last week I said to my Husband for us to go up to Zikreet, and visit ‘Film City’ he had never been so it was something ‘different’ for him and the kids.

I am not entirely sure on the history of this place, I have heard that it was made for a TV series, and also for the opening scene of the Transformer’s Movie, I am unsure if either are true.
The actual ‘City’ is so small, you’re welcomed by a funny little man who shows you where you can and cannot go, my Hubby and Kids had me climbing ladder’s up little towers, being 7 months pregnant it was a little challenge but fun!
For me its a lovely place to take some pictures, but thats pretty much it, this would be a fantastic place for someone to open a Horse Riding school as an example, plenty of space to ride and enjoy.

The surrounding area interests me more, especially for the kids, we took their bikes and quad so they had alot of fun, so much empty open space to get some exercise and breathe fresh air, its so congested in the City now, it was nice to have the feeling of fresh air.

Nothing like a selfie in the desert.

On the way back, I wanted to catch the Richard Serra installations and take some pictures but the Sun was already starting to go down so I did not manage to get anything amazing.

There is nothing around, so taking a little picnic along is a good idea, along with a full fuel tank and of course a 4×4, the GPS co-ordinates are 25’34.11″N 50’46.65″E its around 80km outside of Doha, it is worth a visit to ‘tick it off the list’ if you have space for bikes etc, do take, its a great place to exercise in peace.

Oh and last but not least, I met this girl on the way there, she was so friendly and came over as soon as I shouted, such a cutie.
