Qatar’s rising Star – Wadha Al-Hajri

By  |  2 Comments

I first saw the work of Wadha Al-Hajri, last year, when I was working at the Qatar UK Fashion Exchange 2013 show at Mathaf, at first glance, I knew this emerging designer was unique
Wadha has used her interest in architectural design, to create really fresh pieces, which have a seriously cool traditional twist, I love the elements of islamic prints and shapes she has incorporated into her designs, I find her work a beautiful mix of history & modernity.

Wadha graduated from Qatar University and went on to explore her first passion working as a full time research assistant at a private firm specializing in Arab politics, she is also a mother and creates all of these beautiful designs, I admire her for this, and the ability to balance it all.

She started her label in 2010, and to date has been noticed globally by many, she was also selected by Vogue Italia’s Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzanni to showcase her collection during the first edition of the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from the Autumn / Winter 2014 collection;

Based in Qatar, for the past 14 years, originally from the UK, born & bred in Newcastle, UK. Mum of 2 wicked boys and a beautiful little girl. I adore good food, good fashion and beauty product obsessed. Love women who come together instead of against each other.

    Incredibly talented lady, and quiet too, she does not seem to shout and show off like many other regional designers.
