Souk Waqif Cobbler

The one issue I find in Qatar, is to find a decent cobbler to fix heels, especially expensive ones.

I had always been taking my heels to City Centre to the cobbler there, however, it would at times take 2 weeks to get my heels back, so when a friend told me about the Cobblers at Souk Waqif who fixed within a day, I decided to head there.

I took 03 pairs with me, I was so nervous about leaving the Louboutins, however, I was assured that all would be ‘ok’ the cobbler told me to come back the day after to collect.

When I went back to take the shoes, I noticed the heel of one pair had been painted, I asked him what had happened? he advised the leather had peeled off… I was not happy, I check the Louboutins, I immediately saw the leather had been squashed and damaged where the new heel tip had been put back on, I was livid to say the least, he offered to refix, I refused.

Within one day of wearing one pair, the heel tips had broken again, the cobbler ruined TWO pair of shoes and he hammered nails into the heel, see the images below.

I will NEVER use these Cobblers again, maybe they are good for fixing sandals and more traditional footwear, but for heels, after destroying three pairs, that has put me off for life!

So ladies, this was my experience, make sure none of your shoes get ruined!

This post was very informative & helpful. In fact it saved me & my mom from making a disaster of our heels. Was planning to go fix some of our heels the next day & cause of this post we cancelled it! Seriously, Qatar needs a better cobbler work. :/ Any place suggestions? Anyway, thank you FRQ! 🙂

This is one problem I have found here, in four years of living here I have never found a satisfactory solution. When I travelled to New Zealand last year, I took some shoes with me and got them fixed there. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to collect one pair before I left so a friend is mailing them to me! It has to be simpler than this – perhaps a business opportunity for one entrepreneurial woman?! It’s not like there isn’t a market for great shoes here! Thanks, Kellie, for sharing your experience and sorry to see the state of your shoes as a result.

Honestly this is not my favourite post, I’m so upset for your heels! But it’s the most useful. Thanks to you a lot of heels can survive and have a longer and better life!Heels and me, because I could die if someone damages my shoes! So thanks Kelly! “Don’t go to this cobbler” is a gold suggestion.

Ohhh what a loss ! Am really afraid to leave any expensive heels or pc of clothes here to be fixed or clean after my experience laundry they might dirty the piece u send for ironing or the might loose it as it happened to me! That makes me really angry coz u might be so caring and afraid about your things and the treats it as 10 riyals slipper

This is deviating Kellie, I was looking for a place to fix my Loubs as I got the heel stuck in the floor crack and the leather ruffled up the back if the heel. Now thinking I will just wait until I go back to the UK to get it seen to. Thanks you for the information and I’m loving your new website well done xx
